Asics Gel-Contend 4 Women’s Running Shoes The GEL-Contend 4 is an entry-level running shoe for those with a neutral running gait. It features a rear GEL unit for cushioning, a removable sockliner and a rubberised Trusstic for midfoot support and torsion stability. Synthetic Mesh Upper The Asics GEL-Contend 4 is constructed with a synthetic/mesh upper, which provides breathability, support, and stability. The mesh allows hot air to diffuse out of the shoe, and cool air to permeate into the shoe, to create a pleasant environment for the feet. Comfort is further enhanced by generous padding on the tongue and the heel collar, which make for a more natural fit. The addition of synthetic overlays on the outer prolong the shoe’s shape and provide additional support to the wearer by locking the foot in place. A removable Ortholite sock liner also features to provide additional comfort to the wearer. The sock liner can be easily removed and replaced with an orthotic device to help the wearer to maintain good running posture. GEL Cushioned Midsole The GEL-Contend 4 features a rearfoot GEL unit which absorbs shock and cushions impact during the heel strike phase of the gait cycle. The GEL unit is placed close to your foot in order to replicate your foot’s natural tissue. This, in turn, increases the GEL’s functionality and performance, which helps to minimise the stress on your joints and make for a more comfortable ride. The GEL-Contend 4’s midsole also incorporates a full stretch EVA midsole platform designed with flex grooves that strategically fold on impact. This folding design reduces the pressure on the underfoot and allows the rearfoot GEL unit encased in the EVA midsole to perform to its maximum capacity.
